Vision & Purpose

Shores of Grace Ministries

Freeing the captives.  Loving the unloved.  Equipping the bride. Taking the love of Papa God to the least of these in Brazil.

Three Rings of Focus

From Nic Billman: During my first trip to Brazil God broke my heart for the nation, and specifically for the prostitutes that I saw on the street corners and in the dark alleyways.  One night I was to preach in a church in Brasilia, on the bus ride over to the church, I looked out the window and every prostitute I saw had the face of my daughter.  God was letting me see His heart for His daughters.  The King’s princesses.  He also opened my eyes to see the poor and the “least of these” in Brazil, and opened my heart up to love those people as my own.  Through all of that, I realize the importance of equipping the saints, the body of Christ, to reach these people.  In otherwords, we can’t be the American team that comes to Brazil and does all of the work.  Our desire is to serve and to equip the Brazilian church to reach out in love to those in captivity and to the least of these.

That being said, Shores of Grace has three primary areas of focus:

Free The Prostitutes

Many ministries focus on orphans and street children, which is awesome, but we’ve realized that one of the main causes for orphans is prostitute mothers that can’t take care of a baby, so they abandon them.  We want to focus on both the mothers and the orphans.  We go to the streets and love the prostitutes and transvestites by praying for them, sharing with them and simply being there for them.

Our goal is to have a building in the city of Curitiba that would serve as a coffee house type ministry for prostitutes and street workers.  The building will be open late at night and would be a place to come and get off the streets for a break, drink some coffee and relax.  Our ministry team will work the coffee house and be there to build relationships, meet needs, counsel and pray.  Our long-term dream is to have a facility outside of the city, like a camp or retreat center that would serve as a place of restoration for the men and women to get off the streets and be trained in a trade, skill or something that can help bring in some income.  As they are restored we will work with them and release them in ministry to those that are still on the streets.

To help support this area of ministry, you will soon be able to purchase one of our “FREETHEPROSTITUTES” t-shirts in our online store (check back in a few days), all of the proceeds go this area of ministry.

Love In The Favelas

A favela is a slum or ghetto outside the city.  The average income for a family in the favela is $100 USD a month.  Many of the men, women and children earn money by collecting trash and taking it to the recycling companies for $2-$5 a day.  The favela’s are one of the main places that pimps and gangs recruit young girls to prostitute.  Most of the houses in the favelas have leaky roofs, broken or dirt floors and slat board walls that you can see right through.  Some of the homes have as many as 20 people living in them.  Most of these families have very little food, very few clothes and a lot of needs.  In one of the homes that we delivered food to in October of 2009, there was a little girl named Joselina.  She asked us “would you come back at Christmas time with shoes so that I can go to school?”

Our desire to build relationships with the families in the favelas and help meet the needs in their lives.  Physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  We will take food to the hungry, clothes to the needy and pray for the sick.  We will be Jesus to all we meet.

We will also be organizing short-term teams to come and minister with us in the favelas, by delivering food and clothing, repairing homes, training for childcare and hygiene and medical assistance.  The next trip of this kind is scheduled for December 19-27 Christmas in the Favela for more information email us This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Another way that you can help in this area is by organizing and collecting shoes, medicines and toiletries and shipping them to us.  Food is cheaper in Brazil, so it makes more sense to purchase the food there.  If you’re interested in helping in this way email us This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Equipping The Bride

We want to partner with the local pastors, churches and ministries who are already bringing the Kingdom to Brazil.  We don’t want to come as the American’s who “show them how it’s done” but to serve the church in Brazil.  The main way that we are going to do that is through the ministry school that we will be starting, the Global School of Supernatural Ministry – Brasil.

We are going to Brazil under the covering of Global Awakening, a ministry based out of Mechanicsburg, PA, under the leadership of Randy and DeAnne Clark.  Our main responsibility with Global will be to start the Global School of Supernatural Ministry in Brazil, or GSSM as it’s referred to here in the States.  Nic will be the director of the school and our Shores of Grace ministry staff will be helping in various ways.

Through GSSM - Brazil we will be able to train and equip Brazilian students to spread the Gospel through a variety of ministry avenues, such as pastoral, missions, evangelism, marketplace ministry and prophetic ministry.  We realize that we cannot go to Brazil with a mentality to “save” or “change” their nation, but we can equip and train Brazilians to transform their nation by the love of God and in the power of Jesus name!  Brazilians have a real heart for missions, so we also expect to raise up and send out Brazilians missionaries all over the world, even to the U.S.!  Let it be in Jesus name!

The school will operate four nights a week at a main base that we hope to determine on our trip October 11-19.  We will also have teams that travel around the country for 4 day intensive training seminars as requested.  Look for more information on the school in the coming newsletters.
